SpaceX seeks a Materials Engineer in Additive Manufacturing to advance propulsion systems. Apply your expertise in laser powder bed fusion for enhancing nickel-based superalloys on Raptor engines.
In this role, you will contribute significantly to process development and material characterization. Collaborate daily with design and manufacturing teams to improve additive processes and increase the reliability of propulsion components. This position demands significant hands-on experience with LPBF technology for high-performance applications.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide support for propulsion system materials and processes
• Develop mechanical and thermal properties of superalloys
• Improve additive processes through characterization and development
• Conduct root cause investigations using metallography
• Collaborate with engineering teams to solve processing challenges
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in materials engineering
• 1+ years developing LPBF for nickel superalloys
• Hands-on experience in manufacturing environments
• Understanding of metallurgical testing methods
• Familiarity with aerospace metals and processing techniques
