Junior Engineer / Project Technologist (Water, Wastewater & Environmental Projects)Emissions Reduction and Compliance Pinchin
Pinchin is seeking a Junior Engineer / Project Technologist to join our Emissions Reduction and Compliance team
. This position can be based out of our Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, or Kenora office
. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands-on experience supporting water, wastewater, stormwater, infrastructure, and environmental projects for municipal, industrial, commercial, and Indigenous community clients throughout Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Junior Engineer / Project Technologist will be an important member of our regional team, supporting a range of environmental and infrastructure projects across Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba. Through a combination of field work and office-based activities, you will assist with sampling programs, site inspections, data collection, technical reporting, and project coordination. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, build technical skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that support communities and the environment throughout the region.
YourRole and Action
- Support the delivery of water, wastewater, stormwater, and environmental projects for municipal, industrial, commercial, and Indigenous community clients across Northwestern Ontario.
- Assist with field investigations, site inspections, sampling programs, environmental monitoring, and data collection activities.
- Coordinate and perform water, wastewater, and environmental sampling, including sample handling, documentation, and communication with external laboratories.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret field and laboratory data, and assist in preparing technical reports, figures, and project documentation.
- Provide project support to engineers and project managers, including regulatory compliance reviews, permitting activities, and client deliverables.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and other project-related documentation.
- Participate in site visits and field programs while following Pinchin's health, safety, and quality standards.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project team members.
- Continue developing technical knowledge of water, wastewater, environmental compliance, and infrastructure projects through on-the-job learning and mentorship.
- Represent Pinchin professionally and contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on delivering practical solutions and excellent client service.
You bring a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in environmental and infrastructure projects. You're comfortable rolling up your sleeves, working as part of a team, and helping deliver high-quality solutions for clients and communities.
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- 0–5 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, municipal infrastructure, engineering, or a related field.
- Registered as, or eligible to register as, an EIT or P.Eng.
- Familiarity with water, wastewater, stormwater, or environmental compliance projects is considered an asset.
- Experience with field sampling, inspections, data collection, or technical reporting is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, GIS, Civil 3D, or related software is an asset.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
