Position: Early Career Environmental Scientist / Engineer

We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of advisory and over 30 technical environmental and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability, we are Making Sustainability Happen. As our new Early Career Environmental Scientist / Engineer in Whitehorse you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

Your passion for fieldwork and the environment will see you executing and leading a variety of programs related to the assessment, monitoring, management, and remediation of contaminated sites. No two days will be the same as you lead and support different aspects of varied projects at a range of urban and remote sites including upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas facilities, commercial and industrial properties, and federal and municipal owned sites.

Your knowledge and experience will be invaluable to our team and will see you involved in the full life-cycle of projects as you assist the project manager with planning, budgeting, coordinating, and executing projects.

Responsibilities
  • Participating in all facets of environmental or contaminated site projects including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, and remediation and long‑term monitoring programs
  • Leading fieldwork programs involving sampling, monitoring, and remediation of soil, groundwater, soil vapour, sediment and surface water
  • Supporting project planning, coordination, reporting, and budget tracking
  • Preparing project‑specific health and safety plan
  • Assisting with technical reporting and financial proposal preparation

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a degree or a technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or environmental related studies
  • Experience in contaminated site work, including but not limited to environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater sampling, and remediation programs, a considerable asset
  • Passion for fieldwork and availability to work away from home, potentially for up to 2 weeks at a time on occasion.
  • Knowledge and practical application of health & safety requirements unique to oil and gas facilities, construction sites, subsurface investigations, and contaminated sites
  • Ability to work independently, in small teams, and in remote locations, and ability to adapt to variable conditions and resources.
  • Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., E.I.T., G.I.T., P.Tech, etc.) is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license for travel to job sites
