PositionSummary
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Marine 2nd Engineer is responsible for assisting in the safe, efficient, and reliable operation and maintenance of the vessel's propulsion machinery, auxiliary equipment,electrical systems. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining operational readiness while ensuring compliance with Transport Canada regulations, Company policies, and the International Safety Management (ISM)
Code.
- Assistin the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the vessel'spropulsion, auxiliary, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Stand engineering watches in accordance with Company procedures and Transport Canada regulations.
- Monitor machinery performance and troubleshoot equipment issues as required.
- Complete preventative maintenance and repairs using the Company's planned maintenance system.
- Maintain accurate engineering logs, maintenance records, and operational documentation.
- Assist with bunkering operations and environmental protection procedures.
- Respondto machinery alarms, equipment failures, and emergency situations.
- Ensure compliance with Company policies, Transport Canada regulations, ISM Code requirements, and environmental standards.
- Promotea strong safety culture by participating in emergency drills, safety meetings, and ongoing training.
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineering personnel as required.
- Work collaboratively with all onboard departments to support safe and efficient vessel operations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a just-cause safety culture
Applicants must possess:
- Transport Canada Second Class Motor Certificate of Competency
- Valid Transport Canada Marine Medical Certificate
- Valid Marine Emergency Duties (MED) certification
- Passenger Safety Management (PSM) certification (or ability to obtain)
- ValidWHMIS certification
- Eligibility to obtain all Company-required training and certifications
