DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE POSITIONJames & Jamesy are seeking an experienced Stagehand to join the touring team for their theatrical holiday show O Christmas Tea: A British Comedy
, touring the Eastern United States in November and December, 2026. James & Jamesy have been touring their theatrical, interactive comedies with over 280,000 tickets sold since 2012.
Reporting to the Technical Director and working closely with the Head Electrician, the Stagehand will oversee stage setup, special effects, and assistant stage management duties throughout the tour, from load-in through performances and load-out and driving between each venue.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Oversee load-ins, load-outs, and secure movement of equipment.
- Supervise mic rack setup, and ensure connection to the house board.
- Set up the set, props, and special effects.
- Deal with CO2 tanks and low lying fog generator.
- (Poorly) stitch crotch of pants (1 pair per show; no real sewing skills needed)
- Document stage setup for future tours.
- Act as assistant stage manager with a minor track of running cues during the show.
- Communicate with the two performers important details about the venue that might have a bearing on their performance of the show.
- Be available for lightwalking if/when needed during the show setup.
- Share tour driving with the other technician.
- A good general knowledge of all technical aspects of live theatre.
- Basic rigging knowledge.
- Understanding of live sound would be a benefit but not a requirement.
- Knowledgeable about safe lifting practices and knowing how to maneuver heavy loads safely; ability to lift 50lbs without assistance.
- Excellent communication skills, a calm demeanor under pressure, and a flexible, diplomatic approach to working with artists, local crews, and other staff.
- Being mindful and respectful of any unique bargaining agreements at each venue especially within a unionized environment, for example: coffee breaks, who can touch gear.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and hold a valid passport with the ability to travel to Canada.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to obtain a driver’s abstract.
- Must be proficient in packing and operating a box truck.
- Can demonstrate a high skill level with EOS and QLab for programming and operation.
- Able to work at heights / climb ladders.
- Able to repeatedly lift, push, or maneuver heavy loads, either alone or with assistance from others.
- This is a contract position, November 3rd until December 31st, 2026.
- Minimum salary will be $1900 USD/week with daily Per Diem.
- Solo accommodation while on tour.
- Travel to and from the first and last location and travel home for a short break from approximately December 23rd to 26th.
