This competition may be used to appoint successful candidate(s) to current and future regular, term or acting status appointments subject to staffing approvals Duties:
Reporting to the Refund Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for verifying and processing refund applications under the tax statutes administered by the Taxation Division. The position has increased delegation of financial authority and is responsible for verifying and processing refund applications that require detailed research and interpretation of legislation including legislation of other jurisdictions.

Qualifications:

Essential:
  • Financial skills and knowledge obtained through experience and or education in financial accounting
  • Experience reviewing applications and documentation for compliance with policies, procedures, legislation or regulations
  • Experience interpreting, explaining and applying policies, legislation or regulations
  • Experience providing customer service to the public by phone and in person in a professional manner
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations with accuracy
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a multi-tasked team environment
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Desired:
  • Knowledge of the tax statutes administered by the Taxation Division including the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA)
  • Enrollment in Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Preparatory Courses
  • Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Records Check (CRC)
  • Completion of satisfactory credit screening and credit check
