Manitoba Environment and Climate Change is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Environment Officer in Winnipeg and Dauphin.

SalaryEO2 $ 61,146.00 – $83,520.00 per year.
DutiesReporting to the Regional Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the administration, inspection, and enforcement of regulations, licences, orders and permits pertaining to the Environment Act, Contaminated Sites Remediation Act, Dangerous Goods Handling and Transportation Act, Waste Reduction and Prevention Act, and Ozone Depleting Substances Act.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, physical science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with, and thorough knowledge of environmental legislation in Canada including the Environment Act, Dangerous Goods Handling and Transportation Act, Ozone Depleting Substances Act, and the Waste Reduction and Prevention Act (or similar legislation).
- Demonstrated ability to undertake compliance inspection, investigation and enforcement activities.
- Experience with environmental monitoring and sampling techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively display initiative and solve problems.
- Experience with, and extensive knowledge of environmental management and the effects that contaminants may have on the environment and human health.
- Verbal and written proficiency in French.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Full stage Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence.
- Must be willing and able to travel throughout the province with occasional overnight stays as required.
- Must be able to work overtime, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position such as being able to lift up to 20 pounds of sampling and other equipment.
