Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction supports major life events for Albertans and manages vital systems such as vehicle, business and land registrations. The Red Tape Reduction (RTR) Branch focuses on cutting red tape by one‑third to enhance efficiency and reduce costs across the Government of Alberta.
Responsibilities- Draft briefing notes, correspondence, and written materials for multiple audiences.
- Assist in developing and managing tools to estimate and reduce regulatory compliance costs.
- Support planning and development of RTR legislation.
- Review, analyze, and organize priority stakeholder submission data, including public form submissions and email correspondence.
- Research and apply cross‑jurisdictional best practices in regulatory excellence.
- Support projects and strategic programming related to RTR, such as permit decision times and the implementation of the Automatic Yes policy and toolkit.
- Review documents with a creative and engagement lens.
- Support strategic engagement with industry and external stakeholders through methods such as round tables.
- Facilitate a solid community of practice across the Government of Alberta to implement RTR priorities.
- Communicate with other government partners on regulatory burden tracking and promote a culture of regulatory excellence.
- Systems thinking – consider interrelationships and emerging trends to attain goals.
- Agility – identify and manage required change and associated risks.
- Drive for results – take and delegate responsibility for outcomes.
- Creative problem solving – engage the community and resources to address issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Economics, or another related field.
- One year of related experience may be considered equivalent to one year of education.
- Experience or knowledge in research methodologies, data analysis, program development, and policy research.
- Experience in government structure and processes, program delivery from inception to completion, and program evaluation.
- Experience in project management, Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel), SharePoint, and CRM (Dynamics).
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
