Overview
Wellington Advocacy seeks a Senior Consultant to join our Federal Practice. Reporting to the Business Line Head, the Senior Consultant will represent industry-leading companies, non‑profits, and brands on federal files.
The Role
Contribute to business development by identifying and pursuing prospective opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations.
Monitor market trends across industry sectors to identify opportunities and strategies for Wellington Advocacy and its clients.
Advise clients on policy challenges and develop effective government engagement strategies.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with government and industry stakeholders.
Prepare a range of documents, including government relations plans, policy briefs, client briefing notes, presentations, memos, and proposals.
Proactively monitor political and legislative developments relevant to Wellington Advocacy and its clients.
Support the daily operations of the Business Line, including scheduling and digital file management.
Qualifications
Post‑secondary education in political studies, public relations, communications, or a related field.
Minimum five years of experience in government, government relations, or public affairs.
Ability to lobby under the Lobbying Act (Canada).
Strong understanding of the federal government decision‑making process.
Proven experience in client service, project management, and the development and execution of government relations strategies.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials, industry contacts, and other stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Agency experience is an asset.
Background in federal politics, in a consulting or political/government role, is an asset.
Proficiency with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is an asset.
Compensation
$80,000 – $130,000 CAD annually, commensurate with experience.
