- Spend a significant portion of time on the road and in the field, travelling by vehicle to properties across urban and rural areas to inspect residential, agricultural, and commercial properties.
- Be comfortable driving long distances and independently navigating rural Manitoba roads and communities.
- Conduct detailed on-site property inspections, gathering accurate land and building information to support valuation and classification.
- Determine property values and taxation liability using specialized systems.
- Respond to public and stakeholder inquiries, including explaining assessment decisions.
- Prepare and present information at Boards of Revision and other hearings.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Professional work experience in construction, agriculture, real estate, property appraisal, finance, land survey systems, municipal government, GIS or related fields.
- Experience working with the public in complex or sensitive situations.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate ideas and conduct presentations to various stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) or equivalent software.
- Post-Secondary education is an asset.
- Certificate in Real Property Assessment through University of British Columbia or equivalent.
- Knowledge of property assessment legislation.
- Experience in property assessment appeal hearings.
- Experience verifying real estate sales.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Must have full stage class 5 (5F) Manitoba Driver's License.
- Must be able to travel by ground and air in Manitoba including overnight stays.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Must be able to complete the Certificate in Real Property Assessment through University of British Columbia or equivalent within 3 years (employer support for associated costs is available).
