The Transportation Energy Unit contributes to responsibilities of the divisions related to the transportation sector and for coordinating a whole-of-government approach to energy and climate policy and program delivery efficiently and effectively, including:

  • Adopting leading practices, informed by scientific and economic analysis, to support the 2024 Affordable Energy Plan and the 2025 Pathway to Net Zero.
  • Managing staff and supporting their career development and progress.
  • Establishing partnerships and working collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Ensuring departments, agencies and partners meet key deliverables on time, on budget and with the expected results; and measuring, evaluating and reporting progress and results.

The Energy Innovation and Analysis Branch supports the division by working with industry stakeholders, municipalities, Indigenous organizations, provincial departments and agencies, Crown corporations, and other governments to align efforts and share best practices related to lowering Manitoba’s reliance on petroleum fuels, supporting the switch to low carbon fuels and electric vehicles, building hydrogen infrastructure, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, adapting to climate change, and promoting clean energy technology opportunities.
