Enhance public transportation accessibility in Winnipeg as the Accessibility Coordinator. This full-time temporary role involves compliance, training development, and advocacy for individuals with disabilities.
As Accessibility Coordinator with Winnipeg Transit, you will ensure all capital projects meet legislative accessibility standards. You’ll analyze current services for compliance with the Accessibility for Manitobans Act while coordinating staff education on disability barriers. Collaboration across Transit divisions and with advocacy groups will be key to enhancing barrier-free access.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze policies affecting accessibility for customers
• Develop and distribute accessibility training programs
• Liaise with stakeholders on accessibility initiatives
• Participate in the Winnipeg Transit Plus Policy Advisory Committee
Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in relevant fields
• Four years of experience in accessibility-related roles
• Knowledge of the Accessible Canada Act and related legislation
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Certification knowledge in digital accessibility standards
