Medical Assistant - Health Services

Position at Women's Health Clinic – Shared Health-Soins Communs (Winnipeg, Canada). Posting ends January 21, 2026.

Role

Summary:

Provide program and client service support, maintain high quality services, respond to emergencies, and contribute to clinical and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide welcoming and inclusive reception and registration services to clients and visitors.
  • Maintain security systems, manage disturbances or crises, respond to emergency situations, and alert practitioners or management.
  • Provide health information and referrals to other services and community information.
  • Conduct brief assessments to intake clients and enter client information into the EMR (EChart).
  • Provide clinical support to practitioners by completing tasks and document management in the EMR.
  • Create, update, and maintain practitioner appointment templates and schedule appointments.
  • Support and organize client access to the WRHA Language Access Program.
  • Prepare and clean clinical areas, group and counseling rooms before and after each client/group.
  • Clean and maintain clinical equipment and instruments in compliance with infection control and health and safety guidelines.
  • Process laboratory specimens and perform pregnancy tests (delegated function). Handle and dispose of blood, bodily fluids, and medical waste per guidelines.
  • Physically assist practitioners in escorting clients and/or support people to client service areas and provide orientation to the site.
  • Collect and data enter statistical information for program planning and evaluation.
  • Assist with orientation/training of staff and students.
  • Handle cash, debit, credit cards and receipts.
  • Provide on-call clinical services support evenings, weekends and overnight (if required).

Qualifications:

  • Completion of high school or equivalent program of studies.
  • Proficiency in listening and speaking in both official languages (French and English) for designated bilingual positions.

Work Arrangement: In-person, 8-hour days (evenings, days, weekends). FTE: 0.00 (part-time).

Salary: $20,017 – $23,204 per year (based on experience).

Union: CUPE. Anticipated start date:
February 9, 2026.
