Environmental Services Aide (Housekeeping Aide / Laundry Aide)

Under the direction of the Manager, Environmental Services or the Environmental Services Supervisor, the Environmental Services Aide assists in all aspects of laundry and housekeeping services in accordance with established standards, procedures, infection control guidelines, and all applicable policies and regulations. The aide prioritizes and completes duties, inspections, and inventory responsibilities within established schedules, ensuring the safety of patients and the workplace.

• Assists in the training and orientation of Environmental Services staff and students.
• Follows departmental procedures to maintain consistency and quality of service across the Environmental Services Departments.
• Clears assigned areas according to current cleaning schedules and infection control guidelines.
• Prioritizes and performs additional cleaning duties within established time frames.
• Conducts daily tours of areas of responsibility and inspects each area for cleanliness.
• Ensures all equipment is cleaned and operating efficiently.
• Performs washing, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, polishing, and dusting using appropriate equipment and products.
• Cleans bed frames and mattresses as scheduled and as required.
• Collects waste and cleans waste receptacles.
• Maintains housekeeping carts and restocks supplies.
• Handles linen and clothing processing: collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and transporting.
• Performs laundry and linen processing to established standards, procedures, and infection control guidelines.
• May perform minor repairs to laundry and linen equipment as needed.
• Distributes laundry and linen appropriately.
• Supports inventory procedures.
• Participates in department quality control audits and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Grade 9 education (MB Standards) or other combinations of suitable education and experience may be considered.
