Description
The Health & Safety Specialist supports a strong culture of safety, health, and well‑being across the organization. This hands‑on role focuses on maintaining compliance, reducing workplace risk, and supporting employees and leaders through effective safety programs, training, and inspections.
Location200, Route 100, Morden, MB (On-site)
Key Responsibilities- Safety Programs & Compliance
- Implement and maintain Decor’s health and safety program, policies, and procedures.
- Support safety certification programs and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and ergonomic assessments.
- Support incident investigations and track corrective actions.
- Verify compliance with legislation, CSA standards, and machine guarding requirements.
- Monitor PPE usage and support effective safety controls.
- Training & Awareness
- Deliver safety orientations and coordinate required safety training (WHMIS, Lockout, Fall Protection, etc.), including toolbox talks.
- Track training completion and identify learning gaps.
- Consistently apply and support safety policies and best practices.
- Lead the Return to Work program and monitor progress.
- Audits, Reporting & Risk Management
- Document findings and recommendations from safety audits and inspections.
- Maintain risk assessments and support JHSC activities.
- Coordinate mandated testing programs (e.g., hearing conservation).
- Support environmental and regulatory reporting as required.
- Emergency Response & Wellness
- Maintain Emergency Response and Inclement Weather plans, liasing with local emergency services as needed.
- Conduct emergency drills and debriefs.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation.
- Clear communicator with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Collaborative, proactive, and detail‑oriented.
- High integrity and professionalism.
- 2‑year Occupational Health & Safety diploma in progress or complete (RRCC acceptable).
- CRSP preferred but not required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an occupational health & safety role.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience is an asset.
