Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview
Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience practicing as a Paramedic.
  • 3 years of progressive experience in a clinical health-care setting including:
    • 3 years of demonstrated experience in providing guidance and mentorship to colleagues.
    • 3 years of experience participating in implementing operational directives, and achieving patient safety, service integration, and partner collaboration goals and objectives.
    • 2 years of experience in clinical planning, development and evaluation, and managing patient care services within diverse program settings.
    • 2 years of experience implementing education programs and research processes.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate of an Advanced Care Paramedic program held by an accredited Canadian education institution, or a College of Paramedics of Manitoba approved equivalent is required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Certificate of Practice with the College of Paramedics of Manitoba and is a member in good standing at the Advanced Care Paramedic level (minimum).
  • Must have a valid Class 4 Manitoba driver’s license (minimum) and use of a personal motor vehicle for travel within the zone and province as required.
  • Valid certification in Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Valid certification in Heart and Stroke Foundation Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or must successfully complete the certifications within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is preferred.
  • Valid certification in Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is preferred.
  • Pre-Hospital Canadian Triage & Acuity Scale (Pre CTAS).
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of:
    • College of Paramedics of Manitoba Standards of Practice.
    • Scope of Practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act.
    • Manitoba Emergency Medical Response and Stretcher Transportation Act.
    • Manitoba Highway Traffic Act.
    • Shared Health clinical protocols, care maps and associated documents.
    • Personal Health Information Act (PHIA).
    • Other applicable Shared Health policies, procedures, guidelines, and directives.
  • Demonstrated mid-level leadership capabilities.
  • Demonstrates and encourages others to follow the principles of the LEADS framework:
    Leading themselves, engaging others, achieving results, developing coalitions, and participating in System transformation.
  • Competence in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions and values is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural, social and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Experience in the use of Shared Health ERS and Digital Health technology, software programs, and equipment.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages is considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
  • Must provide a Physical Fitness Assessment by an approved fitness assessment provider.
  • Travel by multiple vehicle types, including where inclement weather conditions are anticipated, and navigation of the general risks of responding to a variety of ERS calls are required.
  • Infrequent exposure to a variety of high stress, physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding situations, and potential for exposure to communicable disease.
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required, including frequent lifting of patients and equipment (80+ lbs/36.3+ kg).
