Assistant Professor, School of Rehabilitation Therapy  The School of Rehabilitation Therapy in Queen’s Health Sciences at Queen's University invites applications for a teaching-focused tenure-track faculty position with teaching responsibilities primarily in the  Occupational Therapy  Program. The position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor. The role will be 70% teaching, with the remaining 30% being allocated to research and service.

The preferred start date is July 1, 2027.

The School of Rehabilitation Therapy offers clinical training programs in Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy, as well as research and post-professional programs in Rehabilitation Science, Aging and Health, and Rehabilitation and Health Leadership. Qualifications
Candidates must be registered (or eligible for registration) as an  Occupational Therapist  in Ontario. Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree (e.g., EdD, DSc) completed by the start date of the appointment. An OTD degree will be considered provided the applicant has evidence of research training and experience to support educational scholarship. The main criterion for selection is academic excellence in teaching and learning.
Teaching activities will constitute 70% of the role. This position is designed for a person seeking a teaching career in a graduate level entry-to-practice occupational therapy program. The role also includes the possibility of teaching and supervising graduate students in other programs in the School of Rehabilitation Therapy.
The ideal candidate has teaching experience and a passion for teaching and learning as evidenced by educational innovation and leadership, curriculum and course design and delivery, and potential for education research. In particular, the successful candidate must provide evidence of strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions in a graduate level entry-to-practice occupational therapy curriculum. The successful candidate will also have experience promoting equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigenization, and/or accessibility through their teaching and learning practices.
The succe ssful candidate will contribute to graduate teaching within the Occupational Therapy program and will be expected to teach a range of core courses aligned with their expertise and the needs of the program. In particular, preference will be given to candidates who can deliver and lead innovation in teaching in more than one of the following areas within the curricular theme, “ Determinants of Occupation ”:
Physical Determinants of Occupation (e.g., courses OT881 and OT885)
Cognitive-Neurological Determinants of Occupation (e.g., courses OT883 and OT889)
Psychosocial Determinants of Occupation (e.g., courses OT882 and OT 884)
Teaching responsibilities may also include courses such as: OT801 Conceptual Models in Occupational Therapy; OT802 Models of Practice in Occupational Therapy; OT826 Enabling Occupation in Children and Youth; OT852 Group Theory and Process; OT897 Critical Inquiry Foundations and OT898 Critical Inquiry Project.
The candidate will also be involved in interdisciplinary offerings and experiential learning initiatives. Course assignments will be determined in consultation with the Director of the School of Rehabilitation Therapy, and the Associate Directors responsible for the Occupational Therapy program and the Research and Post-Professional Programs and may evolve over time in response to program priorities and enrolment demands.
Demonstrated engagement with the Occupational Therapy profession is required, as demonstrated through current membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or a parallel occupational therapy professional organization. Candidates with knowledge and/or experience of occupational therapy practice in Canada will be considered an asset.
