Duties:

Reporting to the Senior Psychologist, , the Psychologist independently provides an advanced and broad range of psychological/behavioural supports (complex psychological and/or behavioural assessment, and intervention), to a wide range of referred individuals identified as eligible within the mandate of Community Services and Supports division which includes Community Living dis Ability Services (CLdS) and Children’s dis Ability Services (CdS). The Psychologist may supervise the work of behaviour specialists, practicum students or other clinical staff.

The Psychologist will provide public education and consultation to community groups and agencies in the area of behavioural/clinical applications for individuals with neurodevelopmental and/or intellectual developmental disorders. The position provides clinical services within the general parameters and standards set by the Department, and according to the expectation of the Psychological Association of Manitoba (PAM).

Qualifications:

Essential:
  • A doctoral degree (PhD, EdD or PsyD) in Psychology (Clinical, School or Applied Behavior Analysis) from an accredited graduate program
  • Experience working with individuals (children or adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities or special needs) and/or their families/caregivers
  • Experience administering and interpreting psychological assessments, including issues relevant to intellectual/cognitive assessment and diagnosis of intellectual and neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Experience with providing clinical/behavioral intervention to children, adolescents, and/or adults
  • Knowledge of the Adults Living with a Disability Act (ALIDA)
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment including developing. relationships with specialists, clients, case managers, care providers, families and various service providers
  • Ability to work independently
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Effective written communication skills
  • Proficiency in using MS Office Software applications particularly Word, Excel and Outlook

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Psychologist (C.Psych) with Psychological Association of Manitoba. If registered, must be a member in good standing with the current licensing body
  • Must have satisfactory Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector search), Adult Abuse Registry Check, Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Must have valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle and ability to travel throughout Manitoba
