Position Overview
Under the general direction supervision of the Supervisor-Diagnostic Imaging Support and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of Shared Health, the Porter - Diagnostic Imaging is responsible for: transporting and assisting patients; attending to the needs of patients; documenting appropriate information; wiping down equipment and ensuring same is in adequate working order; ensuring rooms are properly stocked with linen;

ensuring the adequate supply of oxygen tanks and changing them as required; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Experience

Minimum six (6) months experience in a hospital or recognized equivalent health care setting as a patient porter or other direct patient care position is preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Grade 12 or recognized equivalent.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Good interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
