Introduction

The Business Intelligence Unit (BIU) plays a critical role in managing justice related data across Manitoba, aiming to ensure information reported from justice system applications is accurate, consistent, and reliable. BIU supports seamless data sharing among various partners, enabling informed decision making and enhancing transparency across the justice sector. The Data Warehouse Analyst role will be essential in developing, maintaining, and optimizing data reporting systems to support efficient and timely reporting for both internal stakeholders and external agencies.

Duties

The Data Warehouse Analyst will play a lead role in modernizing justice related data reporting processes by evaluating, transforming, and maintaining how justice data is acquired, stored, processed, and integrated across platforms. Key responsibilities include collaborating with Manitoba’s Digital and Technology Solutions (DTS) and Justice Information Systems (JIS) to identify, implement, and sustain an effective data warehouse solution for Manitoba Justice.

The role will also contribute to the conceptualization of additional reporting solutions, including assessing business intelligence and RPA platforms, dashboards, and reporting structures to meet evolving justice data needs. The Data Warehouse Analyst will be expected to provide mentorship and oversight to junior analysts as required.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or Mathematics combined with a minimum of 2 years work experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Extensive experience in data warehouse development, management, and administration
  • Advanced experience in data analysis and data-mining techniques
  • Extensive experience with data warehousing and data analysis tools including SQL, R, Azure Data Ecosystem and Power BI
  • Demonstrated ability working with large, complex and diverse datasets, ensuring that data quality and data validation practices are maintained.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong project management, leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate contentious issues with tact
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications especially using Excel, as well as Word, Outlook and Power Point
