Business Systems Analyst – Role Overview

We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join our team in Winnipeg, Toronto or Calgary.

As an associate Business Systems Analyst, you will manage the functional & non-functional requirements solicitation & requirements management process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements and processes.
  • Conduct interviews and workshops to understand business needs.
  • Analyze and map business processes, identifying areas for improvement and recommending solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform gap analysis to identify discrepancies between current and desired future states.
  • Provide recommendations and actionable plans to bridge these gaps.
  • Work closely with technical teams, including Solution Architects and Developers, to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Ensure alignment with business goals and technical feasibility.
  • Create detailed documentation, including functional specifications, business requirements documents, use cases, user stories, and process flow diagrams.
  • Ensure that all documentation is clear and accessible for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to develop and execute Acceptance Criteria, test plans, and test cases.
  • Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders, ensuring that solutions meet the specified requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between business units and IT, facilitating communication and collaboration.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
  • Support change management efforts by providing training, creating user guides, and facilitating workshops.
  • Ensure smooth adoption of new systems and processes by end-users.
  • Analyze data to support business decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and project metrics.
  • Assist in project planning, tracking progress, and ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Support risk management and issue resolution.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and propose cutting-edge solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or a related role.
  • Experience in the Group Benefits industry is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and experience with MS Suite, JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences and facilitate discussions among diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business environments and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
