Desktop Technician

Our client is currently seeking a qualified Desktop Technician to join their team onsite in Portage La Prairie, MB.

The Technician will support a large-scale technology refresh project involving the imaging, preparation, deployment, and support of laptops and desktop computers. This is a hands‑on Desktop Technician role that combines deployment activities with deskside support and hardware break/fix services.

The technician will work closely with the project and Field Service teams to ensure devices are properly configured, deployed, and supported.

• Image, configure, and prepare laptops and desktop computers for deployment
• Perform hardware refresh and replacement activities
• Set up and deploy laptops, desktops, monitors, docking stations, and related peripherals
• Provide deskside technical support to end users
• Perform hands‑on troubleshooting, hardware break/fix, and repair activities
• Troubleshoot and resolve common Microsoft Windows operating system and application issues
• Support the Field Service team with onsite technical requirements as needed
• Follow established deployment procedures and maintain accurate documentation
• Communicate professionally with end users, project teams, and site contacts

• Hands‑on experience supporting and troubleshooting desktop and laptop hardware
• Strong knowledge of hardware break/fix and repair
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and related applications
• Experience with device imaging, configuration, and deployment
• Previous deskside or onsite technical support experience
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced project and field service environment
• Ability to work onsite and handle or move IT equipment as required
