Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Warehouse & Traffic, the incumbent is responsible for the shipping of all outgoing material including: the packaging of supplies for shipment, the stenciling or labelling of shipping instructions on shipping containers and the selection and/or notification of pick‑up by transport companies. Provides direction, training and guidance to Receivers as required.
Experience and Education- One-year previous inventory control experience.
- Previous experience in checking purchase orders for receipt of correct goods and quantities required.
- Previous experience operating power vehicles (e.g. High Stacker Forklift Truck and Power Jack).
- Must possess a current certificate for the Low Lift Pallet Mover and Forklift from a recognized Training Facility.
- Will be required to complete an in-house certification on WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Good interpersonal and problem‑solving skills required.
- Basic inventory management skills required.
- Effective mathematical skills and customer service skills required.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem‑solving skills, as well as the ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision required.
- Working knowledge of purchasing, warehousing, finance and distribution as pertaining to Receiving would be an asset.
- Accurate filing and record‑keeping skills essential.
- Demonstrated ability to work under stressful working conditions and to prioritize working responsibilities effectively in a time efficient manner.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge of the HSC complex would be an asset.
- As a receiver of HSC inventory, it is critical that the individual bring with them the qualities of honesty and integrity.
- Position requires considerable bending, stretching, walking, pushing and lifting.
- Repetitive lifting of boxes from floor to shelving (55 lbs.).
- Requires pushing or pulling pallets that may weigh up to 2,100 pounds across hard surface flooring.
- Required to handle hazardous/dangerous goods in accordance with WHMIS and TDG regulations.
- Exposure to extreme temperature variations.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
