Summary:

The Operations Manager leads a fast‑paced operation, ensuring freight moves accurately and on time leveraging internal staff capabilities and coordinating with drivers and equipment to achieve operational excellence. You’ll guide a team, coordinate workloads, and keep processes running smoothly to deliver top‑tier service. With real‑time problem solving, resource planning, and hands‑on leadership, this role makes a direct impact on operational efficiency and customer experience.

Key Accountabilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the terminal, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of freight while meeting service and productivity expectations.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to Dispatchers, Operations Coordinators, and Dockworkers, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily operational activities, including inbound/outbound freight, dock operations, dispatch, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor operational performance, staffing levels, and workflow throughout the day, making adjustments to meet customer and business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain employee schedules to support operational demands while effectively managing labour costs.
  • Lead performance management activities, including coaching, performance reviews, attendance management, discipline, and employee development.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, health and safety standards, transportation regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Partner with the Terminal Manager to implement operational initiatives, improve efficiencies, and achieve departmental objectives.
