Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Manager, Plant and Property Services, and the guidance and direction of the Groundskeeper, the Seasonal Groundskeeper is responsible for performing routine groundskeeping duties such as planting and maintaining trees, shrubs and flower beds, maintenance of lawns and lawn areas, and cleaning and groundskeeping maintenance duties.

Experience
  • Previous experience in operation of commercial or industrial grounds keeping equipment.
  • Previous experience in a similar position at Riverview Health Centre or other commercial facility.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade 10.
  • Completion of a groundskeeping course preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Class 5 Manitoba driver’s license.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Practical knowledge of grounds keeping processes.
  • Ability to express ideas and thoughts in English both verbally and in written format selecting appropriate communication methods for the situation.
  • Exhibits good listening and English comprehension abilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical ability to carry and move loads up to 20 kgs.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Ability to withstand long periods of strenuous physical activity.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.

Interviewed candidates may be called upon to participate in a skills assessment.
