Afternoon Maintenance Supervisor (3:00pm-11:00pm)
Winpak Division is looking for a leader who can ensure our manufacturing operations run reliably, safely, and efficiently every day. Reporting to the Maintenance Electrical and Facilities Manager, you will oversee a team of electricians, millwrights, power engineers, and maintenance team members, coordinating daily priorities, assigning work, and ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely and effectively.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to afternoon shift maintenance employees.
- Assign and prioritize incoming and carry‑over work orders to focus on the highest business priorities.
- Conduct effective shift handovers, toolbox talks, and safety meetings while maintaining clear communication with production and the incoming night shift.
- Foster a positive, collaborative team environment by coaching employees, promoting accountability, and supporting safe work practices.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor corrective and preventative maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Partner with Production to schedule maintenance activities and equipment shutdowns while balancing operational priorities.
- Coordinate contractor work and ensure maintenance work orders, requisitions, and follow‑up activities are completed accurately and on time.
- Monitor maintenance housekeeping standards and ensure work is completed efficiently and to quality expectations.
- Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate workplace incidents, identify corrective actions, and follow through to prevent recurrence.
- Administer company policies and the collective agreement as required while maintaining fair and consistent leadership practices.
- Prepare reports, complete employee time approvals, and support ongoing continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department.
- 5+ years of experience supporting maintenance operations within a manufacturing or industrial facility.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role that required coaching, guiding, and training team members.
- 3+ years of experience in a role that required coordinating maintenance activities and effectively delegating work assignments.
- Strong understanding of industrial maintenance practices, preventative maintenance programs, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across departments.
- Certification as a Millwright or Industrial Electrician.
- Previous supervisory experience within a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Experience coordinating maintenance activities across multiple skilled trades, including mechanical, electrical, utilities, or power engineering teams.
- Familiarity with CMMS/work order management systems and continuous improvement practices is an asset.
