The Independent Living Program Manager is responsible for managing and supervising the overall activities within the Independent Living Program.
The Independent Living Program Manager’s responsibilities include but are not limited to nurturing positive relationships and communication, planning/delivering programs, leading teams, administration, outreach services, dealing with incidents and sensitive issues, counselling and mediation, and community relations.
The Independent Living Program Manager reports to and works in conjunction with the Independent Living Director.
Duties and Responsibilities General:- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including families and professionals.
- Uphold confidentiality and follow Simaril Inc. policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Provide emergency on-call support and resources, including crisis intervention when necessary.
- Report significant changes or issues to the Independent Living Director or CEO when required.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including people supported, families, Case Managers, and external agencies.
- Advocate for people supported and encourage them to express their needs.
- Collaborate in intake meetings and planning for service growth and program development.
- Work with teams to ensure programs meet desired outcomes and goals.
- Ensure property management meets licensing standards and participates in related activities.
- Liaise with community agencies to provide wrap-around support for individuals.
- Identify training needs and design appropriate development opportunities.
- Maintain secure records in compliance with legislative and agency requirements.
- Oversee petty cash, payroll processing, vacation/sick time, and overtime approval.
- Complete monthly credit card reconciliation and assist in the completion of board reports.
- Attend leadership meetings and contribute to presentations that promote awareness of Simaril programming.
- Mentor, supervise, and support the Case Managers and Outreach Team members.
- Ensure team members adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Manual.
- Provide day-to-day support to the Independent Living team in consultation with the Director.
- Lead team meetings and prepare for monthly supervision sessions with the Director.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Family Social Sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience working with the vulnerable sector and 3+ years in a supervisory role.
- Strong background in program development, delivery, and evaluation.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in cross-cultural settings and with diverse populations.
- Valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License and access to a vehicle for work.
- Current First Aid and NVCI Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work evenings and weekends when required.
- Strong project management skills and experience in collaborative leadership.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime/evenings/weekends.
This position will combine working in a fast-paced office and working in the field to provide ongoing support to the team and the people supported.
