Machine Operator – Precision Metal Fabrication

Metal Depot Ltd. is seeking a skilled and motivated Brake Operator to join our fabrication team. In this role, you will play a critical part in producing high-quality metal products that meet the exact standards our customers expect.

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for the full cycle of precision fabrication—from machine setup and configuration to fine‑tuning operations and ensuring first‑time quality. You will work with advanced fabrication equipment, including folding brakes and shears, to produce metal components accurately and efficiently.

• Set up and operate folding brakes and shears to shape and form metal parts with precision
• Configure machine settings and fine‑tune operations for optimal performance
• Troubleshoot fabrication issues such as incorrect bends, tooling wear, or material inconsistencies
• Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, protractors, tape measures) to verify dimensions and tolerances
• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Take ownership of production quality, ensuring first‑time accuracy
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
• Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement

• Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and metal forming processes
• Understanding of tooling setup, bend allowances, and material properties (aluminum, stainless steel, steel)
• Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings
• Proficiency using precision measuring instruments
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize machine performance
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive work ethic
• Experience mentoring or training junior operators is considered an asset
