Position: Terminal Operator (Contract)

Responsibilities
  • Operate & maintain equipment and support the loading and unloading of bulk cement from silos, rail cars, or trucks after proper training.
  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Receive, position, and unload hopper rail cars or trucks according to accepted unloading practices; report operating and maintenance problems to the Terminal Lead.
  • Load customer trucks and common carriers in a timely and efficient manner, recognizing company policy on load limits and clean air standards.
  • Prepare bills of lading and maintain inventory records.
  • Perform emergency, periodic, and preventive maintenance on all equipment according to the terminal maintenance program.
  • Support the team in recognizing cost-saving and work-simplification ideas.
  • Maintain the terminal in a clean, neat, and tidy condition that reflects the company’s image.
  • Support company safety programs through use of safety equipment and observance of safe work methods.
  • Handle special assignments or projects as needed by the Team Lead.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High school graduation or equivalent is required
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Willingness to learn; training will be provided
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License is required
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work is performed in a shop environment as well as outdoors with exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise. May involve exposure to heights up to 90 feet and to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may involve jarring and vibratory exposure.

  • Working outdoors and varied temperatures and weather conditions for short periods of time
  • Effortless mobility
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders several times a day as required
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50-60 lbs
  • Ability to work at heights
What to Expect in a Cement Environment

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with safety guidelines and procedures.
