POSITION TYPE PERMANENT, FULL-TIME
The Mint is hiring a Manager, Winnipeg Production Operations who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment. Reporting to the Director, Operations, Minting & Technical Services, you’ll be responsible for overseeing production activities in the blanking, coining, packaging, die production, and coin finishing areas of our state-of-the-art Winnipeg facility. This role exists to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations that meet the Mint’s high standards for health and safety, quality, and productivity.
The Manager will lead and mentor supervisors, maintain a skilled workforce, and work collaboratively across departments to optimize production in a 24/5 operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and manage a talented team of supervisors in the manufacturing production areas to meet production delivery requirements and operational objectives.Champion health and safety as a core value by ensuring compliance with legislation, internal standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.Collaborate with internal departments, including Planning and Scheduling, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality, to optimize production and deliver world-class products.Monitor and analyze key performance indicators such as Process Efficiency and Schedule Attainment and implement actions to improve performance.Manage workforce development through training and certification, helping your employees develop new skills in specialized areas like die production and coin finishing.Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles to reduce waste, improve throughput, and enhance operational efficiency.Oversee compliance with Mint policies, collective agreements, and regulatory requirements.Prepare and present achievements and operational insights to senior leadership to support decision-making and organizational agility.Requirements:
Technical diploma or University degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant work experience.Minimum 7 years of relevant business experience in a manufacturing environment.Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience managing unionized teams.Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment in an industrial environment.Demonstrated experience in health and safety leadership and compliance.Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and inspire employees at all levels.Proven ability to lead teams, foster collaboration, and drive results.
