Wastewater Treatment Operator
Opportunity
As part of Maple Leaf Food’s Maintenance team, the individual will perform all operational and basic routine and preventative maintenance duties as assigned, (including water quality testing, system monitoring, cleaning, and preparing lab deliveries) used in the facility for the daily production of our products. Furthermore, they will ensure safe plant operations and a safe working environment for all employees. Our Wastewater Treatment Operator rate is $37.97/hour, with an additional premium of $0.75/hour for the off shift.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life- Operate, maintain and monitor wastewater treatment processes, equipment and facilities
- Identify and take corrective actions to operating problems in the treatment plant
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company procedures
- Continuous improvement to the treatment process to optimize wastewater treatment plant performance
- Maintain regular records of plant equipment, ensuring proper operation and daily management of a process water treatment system.
- Participate in plant equipment repairs and installations
- Carry out oral and printed work requests and apply corrective measures in a timely fashion utilizing computerized maintenance system
- Understand and adhere to all plant Food/Health and Safety Polices
- Manitoba Class 1 Wastewater System Operator Certification
- Progressive work experience, preference to industrial wastewater treatment.
- Full understanding of Water and Sewer Systems.
- Ability to organize and plan daily tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
- Must be able to work overnight shift
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Available for weekend overtime as production demands require
