Overview

Responsibilities- Supervise thirty plus food production (dishwashers, galley) employees in a unionized environment to ensure security, safety, food specifications, quality assurance of products, sanitation, HACCP, USDA and FDA regulations are followed, and manage labor and material cost controls.
- Oversee departments including Food Production, Galley Building, Final Assembly, Wares Wash, and Sanitation; assist QA in executing the food safety plan for these departments; manage specification control and department-wide customer changes; manage production food costs.

- Ensures quality production standards are followed and maintained
- Ensures employees adhere to HACCP, FDA, USDA and safety regulations and company policies and procedures
- Prepares management reports (e.g., attendance, HACCP and labor) as required
- Responsible for safety, quality and compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements and company policies
- Ensures specifications, airline diagrams, and other standards are accurate according to airline specifications
- Ensures products are coded according to Gate Gourmet procedures
- Conducts inventory of Gate Gourmet products and customer materials to minimize waste
- Completes required requisitions for Storeroom to ensure adequate supply
- Maintains daily temperature logs and other required logs and reports
- Collaborates with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery and reports issues timely
- Controls material and other controllable costs
- Maintains financial goals related to productivity, overtime, labor, and hours per flight
- Works with management to improve unit performance
- Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures to maximize productivity with minimal costs
- Responsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling and corrective action; liaises with HR
- Manages workflow balance and assigns responsibilities and workstations
- Plans daily manpower and shift staffing; determines staffing needs
- Responsible for employee retention and monitors turnover
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2+ years supervisory experience in a unionized, high-volume, manufacturing, food production, or catering environment or equivalent
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage 30+ hourly employees
- Labor relations experience is a plus but not required
- Ability to drive positive program change and train others
- Ability to give constructive feedback daily
- Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple tasks
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication and leadership skills
- Innovative with ability to improve operations
- Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office
- Clear verbal and written communication; attentive listening
- Bi-lingual in English and French/Spanish/Chinese/Mandarin/Vietnamese/Hindi/Polish is a plus
- Ability to obtain Serv Safe Certification required;
Serv Safe Certification preferred
- Regularly stands, bends, lifts, and moves during shifts of 10+ hours
- Possible physical discomfort due to temperature and noise in a production kitchen
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and move products and equipment weighing more than 25 pounds
- Rotating schedule of over 55 hours per week is typical
