Counterbalance Forklift Operator

Today, DECAST is the largest manufacturing facility for infrastructure products in Canada.
Reporting to the Yard Supervisor, the Forklift Operator is responsible for operating the forklift to move, load and unload DECAST infrastructure products and materials. The Forklift Operator works alongside the production department with the moving, loading and unloading of products from production areas, yard storage or assisting with relocating products and raw materials within the yard. This position also supports the Fleet department with loading infrastructure products onto flat‑bed and/or float‑load trucks in preparation of customer deliveries.
Duties & Responsibilities
Loading of completed products onto flat‑bed trucks and/or float‑load trucks for customer delivery with the assistance of the AZ Drivers/ Brokers.
Plan and stage product loads to determine which products are required for shipment and ensure products are being loaded in accordance with company procedures and safety requirements.
Operate and load the forklift with completed products and/or raw materials and relocate them out of production areas or to applicable stock areas.
Communicate and work alongside other Yard associates and equipment traffic when operating the forklift.
Unload raw materials from deliveries and place in applicable department or storage areas.
Perform pre‑operational inspection safety checks of all equipment and accessories such as controls, tires, hoisting system and overall condition of equipment.
Ensure proper attachments are secured for product transportation.
Skills, Education & Experience
Minimum of one (1) year of relevant machinery experience.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to use tact and discretion and to deal courteously and effectively with the public and fellow staff members.
Ability to manage time/ prioritize tasks, work under pressure of a high traffic yard, while exercising discretion and good judgement particularly when operating Forklifts.
Through working knowledge of applicable safety guidelines and equipment available to complete daily tasks (i.e. safety footwear and High‑Visibility MTO approved personal protective equipment, etc.).

The range of pay for this position is $27.22 - $33.90 per hour
