ManufacturingEngineering Specialist
The Manufacturing Engineering Specialist will support manufacturing to ensure that quality products are delivered on time, meet all customer requirements while reducing cost and increasing production efficiency.
Responsibilities Include- Implement, facilitate, and participate in LEAN manufacturing initiatives.
- Lead or participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives/meetings, ensuring that necessary action is taken between cross‑functional groups to resolve issues.
- Create standard work instructions and train necessary personnel on those standards to reduce inconsistencies.
- Monitor and measure processes to ensure that assigned time standards are efficient and just.
- Validate process flow, space requirement and equipment layout, and initiate actions required to improve manufacturing flow.
- Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Design or specify any equipment/tool/tooling required to support or improve manufacturing.
- Review relevant engineering change orders (EOCs) and support all aspects of production implementation.
- Conduct/supervise the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of equipment hardware and software for production use.
- Support and work with other groups within the company to ensure correct and efficient transfer of information, product, and materials.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering (or related technical field). Equivalent combination of education and hands‑on manufacturing engineering experience will be considered.
- Minimum 3–5 years of Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering experience in a discrete manufacturing environment (any industry).
- Demonstrated ability to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot manufacturing processes with measurable results in yield, throughput, scrap, or cycle time.
- Strong structured problem‑solving skills with documented use of root cause analysis methods (5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D, etc.).
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction or process changes from engineering drawings and customer requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, work instructions, and BOMs.
- Proven track record working with cross‑functional teams (Production, Quality, Engineering) to implement changes on the floor.
- Solid documentation skills and comfort using data (Excel or similar) to drive decisions.
- Practical, hands‑on approach with willingness to spend significant time on the production floor.
- Experience in electronics manufacturing, SMT assembly, or contract manufacturing environments.
- Working knowledge of IPC standards (IPC‑A‑610, J‑STD‑001).
- Exposure to high‑mix, low‑to‑medium volume production with frequent changeovers.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement experience.
- Familiarity with ERP/MES systems for shop floor control and traceability.
- Basic CAD experience for tooling or fixture design.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document processes and train operators.
- Collaborative and decisive, with the ability to influence stakeholders and challenge unrealistic expectations.
- Detail‑oriented with a practical, execution‑focused approach.
- Adaptable and eager to learn new processes, equipment, and technologies.
