Job OverviewReporting to the Operations Manager, as the Saw Operator
- Lumber you are responsible for cutting lumber accurately according to order specifications using a variety of saws. You work in a safe manner, and adhere to Qualico’s Safety Program.
- Reviewing work instructions and determining the accurate lumber required for the job.
- Inspecting quality and storing lumber in designated areas. Replenishing and organizing raw materials at the station.
- Ensuring lumber is sawed accurately according to specified dimensions and angles.
- Examining work orders to determine appropriate procedures and proper setup of equipment.
- Working safely and complying with all health and safety procedures and policies.

- Completion of middle school, must be able to read and write and perform basic math.
- Minimum 6 months of experience operating table saw, shop saw and radial arm saw.
- Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
- Physically able to kneel and crouch as well as lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 50lbs.
- Attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, and situational awareness of the physical work environment.
- Previous experience using a variety of tools such as nail guns, saws and banding machines is definitely an asset.
- Working in a production plant with lumber is an asset.
- Creating trusting and successful working relationships.
- Taking responsibility for the outcome of decisions and actions.
- Cooperating with team members in an open, supportive and respectful manner.
- Setting clear, measurable and achievable goals.
- Staying current with technical job skills.
You primarily work on site during regular business hours. Work has exposure to noise from equipment/machinery and occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather and dust. Overtime may occasionally be required.
