Make a difference as a Shelter Assistant with The Lighthouse in Orillia, Ontario. This full‑time, temporary position focuses on supporting individuals experiencing homelessness through direct service and advocacy.
The Lighthouse is a dedicated nonprofit organization offering support to those facing housing instability. In this 8‑week program, you will engage with community members, develop relationships, and ensure adherence to policies while providing an inclusive work setting. Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in or have graduated from a Social Service Worker program.

Key Responsibilities   Build supportive and healthy relationships with participants
De‑escalate conflicts and guide resolution processes
Monitor behaviors to ensure safety and compliance
Provide support during meal service and resource management
Respond timely to communications from participants
Requirements   Enrolled in or graduated from a relevant Social Service Worker program
Aged between 15 and 30 at employment start
Canadian citizen or permanent resident
Valid Social Insurance Number required
Commitment to trauma‑informed practices
Support individuals in their journey toward stability with The Lighthouse in a rewarding seasonal role.
