Become a vital part of patient-centered care as a Registered Practical Nurse specializing in hemodialysis. In this in-center position, you'll initiate and monitor treatments while ensuring patient safety and well-being.
As an integral member of the inter-professional team, the RPN is responsible for initiating, monitoring, and discontinuing hemodialysis treatments. You will assess patients, educate families, maintain documentation, and troubleshoot hemodialysis machines. Your clinical expertise will support rapid decision-making regarding patient hemodynamics and contribute to quality improvement initiatives in the unit.
Key Responsibilities:
• Initiate and monitor hemodialysis treatments for in-center patients
• Conduct patient assessments and health teaching for families
• Troubleshoot hemodialysis machines as needed
• Document patient care activities meticulously
• Collaborate with RNs on the inter-professional care team
Requirements:
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• 1 year of hemodialysis experience required
• Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.)
• Preferred 1 year experience with Gambro Artis machines
• Commitment to completing Nephrology training within 1 year
