Golden Door Geriatric Centre is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our compassionate team. The RN is responsible for providing safe and efficient resident‑centered care, working directly with Care Coordinators and the interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities- Complete comprehensive resident assessments, care planning, implementation, and evaluation using RAI/MDS standards.
- Monitor residents daily, identify changes in condition, and communicate updates to families, physicians, and Care Coordinators.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans and nursing interventions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and ensure accurate documentation in resident health records.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, staff, and external partners.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and confidential documentation of all assessments, care plans, and resident changes.
- Support and uphold resident rights, safety, and satisfaction within the Eden Alternative model.
- Participate in shift reports, care conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, and departmental committees.
- Assist in maintaining complete and compliant health records, including care plan reviews and MDS updates.
- Provide leadership in the absence of the Care Coordinator as required.
- Orient new staff and support team development and accountability.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant provincial and federal legislation and facility policies.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and mandatory education requirements.
- Perform other related duties within scope of practice as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current registration with The College of Registered Nurses or The College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses.
- Preferred: 3 years clinical experience in the provision of geriatric care.
- Knowledge of College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses, Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses and Scope of Practice.
- Familiarity with facility policies, procedures, and protocols. Understanding of relevant legislation such as PHIA, WHMIS, etc.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize patient care and delegate tasks appropriately.
- Capacity to adapt quickly to changing situations in a demanding environment.
