Nurse Practitioner - PHCC - Virtual Integrated Clinical Service
Position Overview
Under the general direction of PHCC Director Health Services as part of the multidisciplinary team, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) applies advanced nursing and medical theory to the provision of clinical care, autonomously ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmacologic agents, and performing minor invasive procedures. The NP applies current and relevant nursing and medical theory, incorporating medical knowledge and advanced nursing knowledge into practice, demonstrating competence to practice autonomously in implementation of strategies to promote health and prevent illness, planning, implementing, evaluating complex care, and teaching others.
The NP provides problem solving among staff or between staff and patients/residents/clients and with physicians and multidisciplinary team, applying skills in consultation, collaboration and systems management for effective care.
- Apply advanced nursing and medical theory to the provision of clinical care, autonomously ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmacologic agents, and performing minor invasive procedures.
- Apply current/relevant nursing and medical theory, contributing to knowledge, development and advancement of the nursing profession.
- Incorporate medical and advanced nursing knowledge into clinical practice.
- Demonstrate competence to practice autonomously in the implementation of strategies to promote health and prevent illness, proficient in planning, implementing and evaluating complex care, and teaching others.
- Provide problem solving among staff or between staff and patients/residents/clients and with physicians and multidisciplinary team.
- Apply skills in consultation, collaboration and systems management in providing effective care.
- A minimum of 5 years direct or virtual clinical experience is preferred and would be an asset for the position.
- Masters of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Stream or equivalent educational preparation as approved by College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) required.
- Maintain and provide proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
- Active participation in professional associations such as Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
- Meet Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements in accordance with Employer policy.

- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient with computers, software programs and applications such as ADT/EPR, Windows and Word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

- Follow College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses on the Extended Practice Register.
- Follow Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.
- Understand scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
- Apply advanced nursing care knowledge related to health assessment, diagnostics, pharmacotherapeutics and invasive and minor surgical procedures.
- Apply regional, facility, unit policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
