Lions Housing Centres Inc. owns and operates housing and care facilities to provide accommodations for adult citizens. We provide support that looks at the whole person, not just their mental health needs, but consider their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.

LHC Personal Care Home Inc. is recruiting for a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse – Casual position. This position reports directly to the Resident Care Manager.

• Uses the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver safe, quality care.
• Documents in the health care record.
• Provides direct nursing care including administration of medication, monitoring for medication effects and side effects, providing required treatments, and assessment of acute illness or changes in status.
• Consults Physician, Resident Care Manager, on‑call Director/Manager, interdisciplinary team members, or external agencies as indicated.
• Exhibits knowledge in the assessment and management of key gerontology issues such as pressure ulcers, delirium, fall prevention, restraint reduction, incontinence, behavior management.
• Participates in work groups addressing clinical issues.
• Assists in the monitoring of care by participating in quality improvement monitoring and audit processes (restraint audit, resident care audit, chart audit).
• Acts as a resource to Health Care Aides (HCA).

• Must hold a nursing license from CRNM/ CRPNM or CLPNM and be licensed and in good standing with the applicable college.
• Experience in a long‑term care setting is an asset.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong decision‑making, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
• Good organizational and time‑management skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and an expressed willingness to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to uphold the values of Lions Housing Centres Inc.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in the collective agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
