Unit Supervisor, Hospice/Palliative Care
Summary
Reporting to the Operations Leader, the Unit Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for daily operations of the unit, ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centered care and efficient service delivery. This role supervises and supports staff through scheduling, performance management, coaching, and professional development while fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
The UnitSupervisor coordinates multidisciplinary care, oversees program planning and quality improvement initiatives, implements clinical policies and standards, and manages unit resources and budgets. The role also provides clinical leadership through patient assessments, treatment planning, case conferences, and ongoing support to the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless, effective care.

What You Bring Education- Registered Nurse with current practising registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Baccalaureate in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing required, plus qualifications required of a staff nurse in the clinical area.
- Five (5) years recent, related experience in a clinical specialty, including two (2) years recent experience in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and scope of nursing practice and relevant rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
- Demonstrated leadership skill and ability to organize, oversee and evaluate the functioning of a team.
- Ability to use evidence‑based practice to develop and implement standards of practice that guide work practices and quality and safety improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated mentoring, coaching, facilitation and team‑building skills.
- Demonstrated fiscal planning and administration skills.
- Ability to develop, prioritise and accomplish objectives.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to adjust to recent or unexpected events and make decisions.

A competitive salary:
The salary range for this position is $52.39 – $66.65 per hour, depending on experience.

- Lead daily unit operations by overseeing patient care delivery, staff assignments, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure safe, high‑quality, and efficient services.
- Supervise and support staff performance through coaching, goal setting, performance evaluations, attendance management, and corrective action when required.
