Compensation

Salary: $42,985 – $52,732. Pensionable Salary Enhancement:
Nurses in eligible classifications may earn an additional $5.95/hour when working full‑time hours within a prescribed six‑month reporting period (Effective April 1 2025 – March 31 2027).

Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services, the Clinical Practice Nurse – Registered Nurse provides professional registered nursing services for patients, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. Services include independent nursing, administration of prescribed medical treatments, a leadership role within the health‑care team, and coordination of patient care and discharge.

• Recent operating room nursing experience required.
• Invasive pressure monitoring experience preferred.
• Preference given to those with demonstrated current perioperative nursing experience.
• Successful completion of the AORN Periop 101 online course or equivalent operating room training/experience required for candidates without prior operating room experience. Completion within three months of employment is required; extensions up to six months may be granted in special circumstances.
• For applicants without prior perioperative experience, the WRHA Surgery Program offers basic orientation through the AORN Periop 101 Didactic course. Completion within three months of start date is required.

• Graduate of an approved registered nursing education program required.
• WCCNEP EKG course or equivalent preferred.
• Conscious sedation training preferred.
• WCCNEP EKG Course must be completed when scheduled by the employer or mutually agreed upon. Similarly, adult conscious sedation/procedural sedation education validation must be obtained when scheduled by the employer.

• Current CRNM registration required.
• Active participation in a professional association (e.g., ARNM) preferred.
• Annual BLS Level C registration/re‑registration required.

• Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
• Nurses currently working on the unit will be deemed qualified.
• Unit has standby and on‑call shifts.
• If no applicants meet the qualifications, the employer may consider an applicant who does not meet the above qualifications.

• Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check required.
• Candidates responsible for service charges incurred for checks; checks considered current if obtained no more than six months prior to employment.
