Position: Nurse Practitioner (0.5 EFT, Permanent)

Nurse Practitioner

0.5 EFT (part‑time), Permanent Position at Nor West Co‑op Community Health (Access Nor West). Anticipated start date:
As soon as possible. Anticipated shift:
Days, evenings, weekends. Daily hours of work: 7.75 hours. Responsibility to:
Director of Primary Care. Status:
Permanent.

The Nurse Practitioner will function within an interdisciplinary primary health care team as a first‑line provider of episodic care within our Walk‑In Connected Care Clinic and provide prevention and promotion to clients living in the Inkster/Seven Oaks Community and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Applies advanced nursing and medical theory to the provision of clinical care; autonomously orders and interprets diagnostic tests, prescribes pharmacologic agents, and performs minor invasive procedures.
  • Applies current/relevant nursing and medical theory, contributing to knowledge, development, and advancement of the nursing profession.
  • Integrates medical and advanced nursing knowledge into clinical practice.
  • Practices autonomously in implementing strategies to promote health and prevent illness; proficient in planning, implementing, and evaluating complex care; teaches others.
  • Provides problem solving among staff and between staff and patients/clients, as well as with physicians and multidisciplinary team.
  • Uses skills in consultation, collaboration, and systems management to provide effective care.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of recent clinical nursing experience, preferably in a primary care and community‑based setting.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in delivering primary care services to a variety of client groups.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Masters of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Stream or equivalent educational preparation approved by the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba and meets requirements for the extended practice registry.
  • Maintains proof of active registration on the RN Extended Practice Register of the CRNM.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural diversity and colonialism.
  • Ability to provide harm reduction, trauma‑informed, and community‑development principles within practice.
  • Advocacy and service‑navigation skills; knowledge of community resources.
  • Independent task performance, initiative, and teamwork.
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, interpersonal, critical‑thinking/problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Proficient with computer and common software applications (Windows, Word, spreadsheets, databases).
  • Experience using Accuro preferred.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Follows Regional/Facility/Unit policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Follows the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA).
  • Applies principles of collaborative practice.
  • Understanding of roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team.
Additional Requirements
  • Requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment; the successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
