Position Overview
Under the direction of the Manager, Health Services, the incumbent functions as a pivotal member of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and provide clinical management to patients with complex health issues within the defined patient population (e.g., transplant) and acts as a resource to patients, other healthcare professionals and to the community.
The Nurse Clinician utilizes advanced skills and knowledge and performs at a high level of independence as a clinical practitioner, leader, consultant and educator. The Nurse Clinician practices in accordance with employer policy and professional standards.
The Nurse Clinician will be expected to provide coverage, as directed by the Manager.
Experience- Three (3) years nursing experience within the last five (5) years.
- Experience with in the specific area of knowledge is an asset.
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing required.
- Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
- CNA Certification, if applicable.
- Competency with computers including presentation programs, software programs, and applications such as Windows and Word processing, spreadsheets, and databases required.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records such as EPR, eChart, Accuro is required.
- Knowledge of:
- College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses.
- Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.
- Nurses’ scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act.
- Advanced clinical knowledge in subspecialty.
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking/problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and creatively; as well as the ability to work collaboratively and closely with patients, families and other members of the health profession.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining current knowledge in area of expertise with a focus on life‑long learning.
- Demonstrated expertise and competence in nursing practice, interviewing, counselling, teaching and group dynamics which may include evidence of knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex information to patients and/or families in difficult situations.
- Displays initiative, accountability, good time management, decision‑making ability, leadership and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
- Initiates and supports change and process improvements.
- Sensitive to spiritual, cultural and other relevant contexts of care.
- Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
- May be required to work flexible hours.
- This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
