Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) applies the nursing process to support clients, residents, and patients in achieving and maintaining their optimum level of health within a people‑centered care approach across a range of settings, including Acute, Transitional, Personal Care Home (PCH), Primary Care, Oncology/Cancer Care, Public Health‑Healthy Living, and Home Care.

The LPN works to the full scope of practice, engages in ongoing education, and maintains competency in accordance with Southern Health‑Santé Sud policies, the Professional Standards of Practice, the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba, the Code of Ethics, and the Regulated Health Professions Act. The incumbent exercises appropriate initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, methods, and actions on unusual matters, consistently aligning with the mission, vision, and values of Southern Health‑Santé Sud.

Certification / Licensure / Registration
  • Current active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification applicable to Acute, Transitional, PCH, Primary Care, Public Health‑Healthy Living, Home Care, and Oncology/Cancer Care settings.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and ownership of an all‑purpose insured vehicle with liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.

  • Knowledge of Professional Standards of Practice, Competency Profile for LPNs in Manitoba, and the Code of Ethics.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative interdisciplinary environment that supports quality services, quality improvement, and staff empowerment.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • An analytical and inquisitive approach to problem‑solving, contributing to program improvement.

  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility to meet the demands of the position.
  • Proficient in both official languages for designated bilingual positions.
  • Respect for confidentiality across paper, electronic, and other formats.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and competency relevance to the practice area.
  • Respect and promotion of a culturally diverse population, given the cultural diversity of the region.
