Salary
$42,985 – $52,732 per year.

Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing professional registered nursing services for patients, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. These services include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, a leadership role within the healthcare team, and facilitation of coordination of patient care and discharge. The RN demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the region, facility, and unit.

Experience

Recent, related experience is an asset.

Current Emergency nursing experience preferred.

Satisfactory employment record required.

Emergency Nursing Orientation is a full‑time program. Orientees are required to participate on a full‑time basis during Level 1, 2, and 3 training periods.

Education

Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.

Special Training

Successful completion of WRHA Emergency Nursing Orientation (ENO) training Level 1 within 2 months of date of hire, with remaining Level 2 and 3 completed within 12 months of hire, and all other required training within 24 months.

Certification / Registration

Maintain and provide proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).

Active participation in professional associations such as the Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training in accordance with employer policy.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training is an asset.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training is an asset.

Trauma Nursing Core course (TNCC) is an asset.

Emergency Nursing Pediatric course (ENPC) is an asset.

Emergency Practice, Interventions and Care (EPICC) Foundations course is an asset.

Emergency Practice, Interventions and Care (EPICC) Trauma course is an asset.

Qualifications and Skills

Must be able to speak, read, and write French at the predetermined linguistic level.

Knowledge of:

College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses.

Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.

Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).

Regional/Facility/Unit policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.

Clinical nursing care knowledge.

Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), and other legislated acts.

Roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team.

Demonstrated effective oral and written English communication skills.

Preference will be given to applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.

Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patients.

Ability to perform independently and as a member of the healthcare team.

Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment.

Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Physical Requirements

Moderate to heavy physical effort required.

Security and Background Checks
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
