Job SummaryMain Street project OAT witnessing nurse, will provide OAT (Methadone, Suboxone etc) pick up from pharmacy and deliver to both WMS sites to provide witnessed dosages. The job requires reviewing OAT e-mail to pharmacy, driving to the pharmacy to pick up prescriptions, attending both WMS sites to provide witnessed dosing and update notes. Duties may also include medication administration and monitoring within other MSP programs as needed.
The core work will be on Saturday, Sundays, and holidays. There will also be opportunities to pick up holiday and sick time coverage.
Education and Qualifications- Graduate of an approved Nursing Program;
Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) - Two years’ experience as a licensed RN, RPN or LPN in Manitoba
- Standards of Practice for Licensed Practical Nurses/Registered Nurses
- In good standing with the Manitoba Nursing college
- Code of Ethics for Licensed Practical Nurses/Registered Nurses
- Scope of Practice as documented in the Licensed Practical Nurses Act/Registered Nurse Regulation
- Nursing care knowledge related to community nursing
- Knowledge of the effects of poverty and the detriments of health
- Knowledge of treatment methodologies for addictions and mental health issues
- Knowledge of addictions, treatment resources, issues of poverty and homelessness and awareness of community resources available
- Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other applicable legislated acts and regulations
- Working knowledge of eChart and RL6 incident reporting and asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with participants displaying challenging behaviour
- Ability to apply Harm Reduction and Housing First philosophies in day to day work
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture
- The ability to speak/understand an Indigenous language considered an asset
