Job Profile:

Lions Lions Housing Centres Inc. is recruiting for a permanent 0.4 EFT Staff Educator position. The Staff Educator is responsible for supporting the organization's staff education, orientation, competency development, clinical practice, quality improvement, and professional development initiatives.

Working collaboratively with the Director of Care, managers, clinical leadership, and the interdisciplinary team, the Staff Educator promotes safe, evidence-informed, and resident-centred care through education, coaching, mentoring, competency assessment, and ongoing staff development.

The Staff Educator will coordinate and deliver mandatory education, orientation, in-services, competency assessments, and other educational initiatives to support compliance with Manitoba long-term care standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.

Although the position is 0.4 EFT, the successful candidate must be flexible and adjust their schedule as operationally required
. This may include day, evening, night, and weekend shifts to accommodate staff education, orientation, competency assessments, mentorship, and other organizational needs.

The Staff Educator may also be required to provide clinical support and perform other duties within their scope of practice as assigned by the Director of Care.

Job Responsibilities:

Staff Education and Development:

• Coordinates and delivers mandatory annual education in accordance with Manitoba long-term care standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Develops, coordinates, and facilitates staff education sessions, in-services, workshops, and competency-based learning.
• Provides education to nursing, healthcare aide, support, and other staff as appropriate.
• Assists with orientation of new employees, students, agency staff, and volunteers as required.
• Develops and maintains orientation and education materials.
• Maintains accurate education records and staff competency documentation.
• Monitors completion of mandatory education and follows up on outstanding requirements.
• Develops annual education schedules in collaboration with leadership.
• Identifies staff learning needs through observation, audits, incident reviews, quality indicators, resident care concerns, and staff feedback.
• Provides coaching, mentoring, and bedside teaching to promote safe and evidence-informed practice.
• Assesses staff competency and provides additional education or follow-up when required.
• Supports the implementation of new policies, procedures, equipment, technology, and clinical practices through staff education.
• Collaborates with managers and interdisciplinary team members to identify educational priorities and professional development needs.

Clinical Practice and Support:

• Promotes safe, quality, resident-centred care consistent with organizational policies and professional standards.
• Provides clinical education and support to staff in areas of identified need.
• Acts as a clinical resource and role model for staff.
• Supports staff in applying policies, procedures, protocols, and best practices.
• Provides guidance and education related to resident care, documentation, medication management, infection prevention and control, falls prevention, skin and wound care, restraint reduction, and other clinical areas.
