Full-time (37.5 hours per week), 8:00am - 4:00pm including some evenings and weekends
Fort Whyte Alive is looking for an experienced individual to join our Facilities and Site Operations team as a Seasonal Landscape and Habitat Technician.
What you will doIn this role, you will be responsible for building and grounds maintenance as well as having the opportunity to be involved in various enhancement projects throughout our green (and white) spaces. While not a complete list of all the duties you will be responsible for, several include the following:
- snow clearance for the winter season; operate snow clearance equipment, hand shoveling
- enhancing the visitor experience of our many nature trails through daily grooming and regular upkeep (weed control, grass cutting, removal and control of invasive flora species, snow clearance)
- repairing docks, floating boardwalks, other repairs as necessary
- assisting the Gardening Team with cultivation, planting, pruning and removal of plant materials
- watershed management; cleaning ditches, culverts, clearing cattails and waterfront willow, regulating water circulation pumps
- end of season(s) change over activities; hauling out boats, storing equipment and amenities, making preparations for the upcoming season
- experience in groundskeeping, building maintenance activities, use of hand tools and vehicle operation (tractors etc.)
- ability to work all weekends and holidays
- ability to perform various physical activities
- ability to work with minimal supervision
- valid class 5 license
