Position Overview – HSE Coordinator

The HSE Coordinator supports all health, safety and environmental initiatives at the plant. Core responsibilities include conducting safety audits, implementing GAP safety and environmental SOPs, facilitating training, maintaining documentation, assisting with incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with corporate policies as well as provincial and federal OH&S and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with management to monitor work activities and ensure staff operate within prescribed safety guidelines.
  • Promote the Human and Organizational Performance (Safety Differently) ethos to maximise learning.
  • Carry out investigations of hazard and near‑miss reports, identifying solutions to improve safety culture.
  • Maintain emergency protocols and ensure all employees understand them.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with HSE regulations and GAP safety and environmental SOPs.
  • Facilitate training and development so plant personnel meet HSE standards.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation and records.
  • Partner with Regional HSE Specialists and site leadership to mitigate plant risks.
  • Conduct safety orientations and walkthroughs for new hires.
  • Lead all workplace incident, injury, illness, and near‑miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims, modified work programs and return‑to‑work processes.
  • Oversee iCare reporting and ensure timely submission of safety‑related incidents.
  • Monitor and report key safety metrics, trends and performance indicators.
  • Lead the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC), site inspections, risk assessments and corrective action tracking.
  • Deliver safety orientation, training and ergonomic awareness programs for employees and contractors.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Safe Sentry, 5S, GEMBA actions and other corporate safety programs.
  • Act as site lead for safety projects, environmental compliance and security programs.
Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary degree in Safety.
  • 1–3 years of environmental, health and/or safety related experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with safety and environmental management and claims management.
  • Strong customer focus orientation.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering strong employee relations.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally.
  • Experience managing HSE performance and programs.
  • Ability to manage quality processes and motivate a team.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and strategic thinking skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Windows‑based systems.
  • Knowledge of provincial occupational health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments and developing Safe Work Practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Strong organizational, project management and follow‑through skills.

Pay Range

Base pay range is $52,000–$71,000

CAD annually. Actual offers may be higher or lower depending on skill set, experience, licensure, geographic differentials and business needs.
